We are working on finishing up the final punchlist items for the three preschool rooms for the center. This will leave us with the major safety components to be completed to allow for the opening to occur at the end of summer. This will include the final wrapup of the sprinkler system and connecting this with a new water line coming into the building. Also, we are adding the new HVAC system for this preschool wing, which will have a new fresh air component. Additionally, the new ADA compliant ramp with the new vestibule will be installed that will go down to the registration/security desk. There will be an emergency exit added to the north side of the center as well. Childcare has been identified as a major need in this part of Des Moines so we are working with the State of Iowa, the City of Des Moines, United Way, and major grant funders to help us get the last funding that is needed to open this portion of the childcare.
